The verb assure has many definitions, including to make safe, to give confidence to, and to make sure or certain.
How the Assurit Name Came to Be
When Assurit (originally AssurIT Consulting Group, LLC ) began as a back-of-the-envelope idea over dinner in 2012, we decided that we wanted to start a firm that was dedicated strictly to the servicing and advancement of the cybersecurity industry. As such, we began to research common terminology used to categorize the field (e.g. cybersecurity, information security, information assurance, IT security, etc.).
The term assurance stuck out to us due to its applicability to the field and its positive connotation, so we decided to utilize the verb assure as a base for our name. The verb assure has many definitions, including to make safe, to give confidence to, and to make sure or certain. It was at that point we decided, “let’s combine the word assure and the abbreviation of Information Technology (IT) to create AssurIT (pronounced ‘assure it’)”
While this stuck for a while, we realized that the capital IT and our old logo placed too much emphasis on the ‘IT’, and was causing people to think our name was pronounced ‘Assure IT’ (which luckily still has a great meaning – but who has time for an extra syllable?).

In 2018, we worked with a marketing firm to reevaluate our branding strategy and create our new logo and slogan as pictured below. We are now simply known as Assurit (pronounced ‘assure it’) – with a straight and to the point slogan ‘cyber secured.’
Give it a few tries and Assurit will roll right off your tongue – we assure it!

As of 2021, we have now added to our rebranding by securing the ‘Assurit’ DBA designation through the State Corporation Commission to create a consistent brand, message, and culture internally and externally. While consulting is a subset of Assurit’s offerings, the company has now become a full-service cybersecurity firm developing and providing next generation cybersecurity solutions for the public and private sector.
