Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Certification
The V3 Program is an official Commonwealth of Virginia Program, authorized under the Code of Virginia (§ 2.2-2001.2). It is organized under the directorate of Veterans Education, Training, and Employment (VETE), within the Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS), an agency of the Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs.
Virginia is home to over 725,000 veterans, and with the unique skills and training they received while serving our country, these men and women can be an enormous asset to the employers. Virginia Values Veterans (V3) is an innovative program administered by the Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) that works with companies and state and local governmental agencies across the Commonwealth to promote the recruitment, hiring, and retention of military veterans in the Virginia workforce. Since its inception in 2012, more than 32,000 veterans have been hired because of the efforts of the V3 Program and its partner employers.
The Veterans Education Transition and Employment directorate of the Virginia Department of Veteran’s Services ensures that every Veteran or eligible person has a full and fair opportunity to reach his or her fullest potential through access to the G.I. Bill approved post-secondary educational, training/licensure/certification, entrepreneurial institutions, V3 certified employers and Virginia Colleges and Universities. Currently, more than 1000 institutions with various programs are approved in Virginia.
The Department of Veterans Services (DVS) is organized into seven service delivery sections: benefits; veteran and family support; veterans’ education; transition and employment; care centers; veterans cemeteries; and the Virginia War Memorial. The Board of Veterans Services, the Joint Leadership Council of Veterans Services Organizations, and the Veterans Services Foundation work closely with DVS to support the effective delivery of services to Virginia’s veterans and their families.
